Twelve rooms, one long table and a pool that holds the last of the light. Stay long enough to see it every night.

About this block

Full Bleed Film HeroPRO

A hotel hero over a muted, looping background film that eases in from a slight zoom behind a scrim and film grain, with a serif headline settling in word by word, two pills, and a round play and pause control whose hairline ring traces the loop as it plays. Reduced motion keeps the still poster.

Hotel34: Full Bleed Film Hero

A full-bleed muted film loops behind a dark scrim and a layer of film grain, easing in from a slight zoom, while a serif headline settles in word by word above two pills and a round play and pause control whose hairline ring traces the loop as it plays.

Base UI flavor

bash

This installs the block to components/beste/block/hotel34.tsx plus the button22 sliding-marker pill used for the two actions and the text1 word stagger used for the headline.

Quick start

The installed file exports hotel34Demo alongside the block: the exact props behind the preview above. Spread it to get a working section in one line.

tsx
import { Hotel34, hotel34Demo } from "@/components/beste/block/hotel34";

export default function Page() {
  return <Hotel34 {...hotel34Demo} />;
}

Then replace the demo with your own props. Written out, a trimmed setup looks like this:

tsx
import { Hotel34 } from "@/components/beste/block/hotel34";

export default function Page() {
  return (
    <Hotel34
      eyebrow="Ostria, Paros"
      heading="Watch the evening arrive on the cove."
      description="Twelve rooms, one long table and a pool that holds the last of the light."
      buttons={[
        { label: "Book a stay", href: "/book", tone: "light" },
        { label: "See the rooms", href: "/rooms", tone: "outline" },
      ]}
      video={{
        src: "https://oud.pics/b/hotel/ostria-video-exterior.mp4",
        poster: "https://oud.pics/b/hotel/ostria-exterior-golden.webp",
        label: "The hotel on the hillside above the cove at golden hour",
      }}
      labels={{ play: "Play the film", pause: "Pause the film" }}
    />
  );
}

Behavior notes

  • The film is muted, looped and inline, and starts playing on mount. It scales from 110% to 100% over 2.4 seconds and sits at 60% opacity until the browser reports it can play.
  • The headline words stagger in at 0.07 seconds each on mount, and the description, buttons and play control are timed after it based on the headline's word count.
  • The ring around the control is driven by a requestAnimationFrame loop that writes strokeDashoffset from currentTime and duration, so it traces each loop without re-rendering React.
  • Clicking the control plays or pauses the film; the icon and the aria-label swap between labels.play and labels.pause from the video's own play and pause events.
  • With reduced motion the film is paused on its poster and the entrance animations are skipped.
  • Without video the section keeps its dark bg-foreground ground, scrim and grain, and the play control is not rendered.
  • From lg the copy takes eight of twelve columns and the control sits bottom right; below that the control follows the buttons.
