Impasto Painting Hero

Ochre & Linseed, hand-milled oil colors

Paint you can feel from across the room.

Pigments ground by stone in cold-pressed linseed oil, one small batch at a time. Colors that hold the mark of the brush long after the canvas dries.

Sunrise over a misty valley with lone pines on a grassy slope
About this block

Impasto Painting HeroPRO

A hero for a maker of hand-milled oil colors, split between a column of copy and a large live oil painting built on the impasto component: thick brushstrokes lay a sunrise landscape down stroke by stroke from broad blocking-in to fine detail, with bristle grooves and ridges of paint lit by a raking light that glints on the wet surface and follows the cursor, linen showing through the thin passages, and a slow repaint once the canvas rests. A semibold serif headline, an intro, an Arrow Pill and an underline link sit on the left. Every painting setting passes through the painting prop.

Hero246: Impasto Painting Hero

A split hero with a copy column on the left and an Impasto WebGL oil painting on the right that lays a photo down stroke by stroke, from broad blocking-in to fine detail, with ridged paint lit by a raking light that follows the cursor and a slow repaint once it rests.

Base UI flavor

npx shadcn add "https://ui.beste.co/r-base/hero246?email=YOUR_EMAIL&license_key=YOUR_KEY"

This installs the block to components/beste/block/hero246.tsx plus the impasto component and the button23 and button2 buttons it uses.

Quick start

The installed file exports hero246Demo alongside the block: the exact props behind the preview above. Spread it to get a working hero in one line.

tsx
import { Hero246, hero246Demo } from "@/components/beste/block/hero246";

export default function Page() {
  return <Hero246 {...hero246Demo} />;
}

Then replace the demo with your own props. Written out, a trimmed setup looks like this:

tsx
import { Hero246 } from "@/components/beste/block/hero246";

export default function Page() {
  return (
    <Hero246
      eyebrow="Ochre & Linseed, hand-milled oil colors"
      heading="Paint you can feel from across the room."
      description="Pigments ground by stone in cold-pressed linseed oil, one small batch at a time."
      buttons={[
        { label: "Shop the colors", href: "https://beste.co" },
        { label: "Visit the mill", href: "/mill" },
      ]}
      image={{
        src: "https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1470252649378-9c29740c9fa8?w=1600&q=80",
        alt: "Sunrise over a misty valley with lone pines on a grassy slope",
      }}
      painting={{ strokes: 2000, paintTime: 12, repaint: 14, primerColor: "#efe8da" }}
    />
  );
}

Behavior notes

  • From lg the grid is 5 columns of copy and 7 of painting, at least 640px tall and otherwise the viewport minus 78px. The copy column's left padding lines up with a centered max-w-7xl container. Below lg the painting stacks under the copy at 4:3.
  • One painting takes paintTime seconds to lay down and rests repaint seconds before it is painted over again; a repaint of 0 keeps it.
  • The copy column uses theme tokens (background, foreground, muted-foreground, primary), so it follows light and dark mode. The painting keeps its own colors, and primerColor shows through thin passages.
  • The painting fades in over 1.6s and the copy rises in with delays from 0.1s to 0.5s. The image alt is exposed through an sr-only span.
  • The painting pauses offscreen and in hidden tabs. With reduced motion it finishes instantly and the copy appears in place; without WebGL the plain photo is shown.
